FAQs

What is the Summer Trumpet Club?

Is there a Fee?

Do I have to attend each session?

A chance for trumpet players in the Greater Victoria area to gather informally to play, listen and talk trumpet! The goal is to keep your ‘chops in shape’ with a highly supportive, friendly group of fellow trumpeters!

The first 30 minutes of each session will be devoted to basic fundamental warm-ups - musical exercises for all levels and then some fun, simple ensemble music. After a short break, the beginners are welcome to head home OR stay and watch/listen as our intermediate and advanced players play some more sophisticated repertoire!

We will run each session no matter how many trumpeter’s attend that day! Duets, Trios, Quartets + more.

The cost for students is just $60 for the whole summer! We would love to offer it for free but we have to cover costs for the Church rental, printed music and teacher insurance. E-transfer to Stevan, or cash - just show up and we will make it happen. No pre-registration required.

You can come to any or all sessions! Totally up to your schedule. We realize lot’s of families take holiday time away but not to worry.

You can miss any Saturday and jump right back in anytime.

When and where?

What do we need to bring?

Every Saturday from June 27 - August 29 from 1pm - 3pm. We will be in the downstairs Youth Room at Victoria Alliance Church (1792 Townley St.). Plenty of free parking, easy access through the down ramp at the front of the church.

Parents of beginners are welcome to stay for the initial 30 min warm-up/fundamentals session.

Just bring your trumpet ready to go! We have music stands and will pass out some sheet music that you might take home anytime.

Who is leading the Club?

How can you contact us?

Highly experienced music educators Stevan Paranosic and David Flello - two of Festive Brass’s core members - will be leading each session. Bios for both of us are found on the “About” page for this website. We hope to have guest professionals in town join us and we welcome all kinds of input and feedback about trumpet playing and learning!

Stevan can be reached at stevanparanosic@gmail.com - feel free to contact me with any questions!

What levels of trumpet experience? Are beginners welcome?

If you’re a complete beginner, we highly recommend you contact us for maybe a couple of private lessons to get you going first; we don’t want anyone overwhelmed and not having a good time!

Summer Trumpet Club is for all levels of trumpet students and players!
